Jason has loved music his whole life. Born in San Angelo, Texas and raised in Arlington,Texas by two music-loving parents, he developed an appreciation for all types of music from a young age.
“When I was in 6th grade, I came home from school one day and there was a jukebox in the living room, full of 45’s. The first half was all oldies…I’m talking Steppenwolf, Elvis, The Eagles, The Guess Who, Tommy James and the Shondells, Bread, Looking Glass, etc. The second half was all country…80’s and 90’s country with some older stuff mixed in, headlined by Garth Brooks, George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Gary Stewart…the list goes on. It was awesome! I was walking around singing songs that none of my friends had ever heard of.”
While singing in his church praise team in 2011, he was asked to play rhythm guitar in the band to fulfill a need, and has not left the stage since, leading worship and playing in churches, prisons, and ministry events all over Texas, as well as playing and singing for Mike and the Mix.
Jason met Mike in 2014 while playing in the praise band of the church they both attend, and Mike and the Mix was reborn with a fresh look and sound, playing both old favorites and new hits.
“I love the eclectic mix of music we play. It is the stuff everyone knows, from the oldies that bring back great memories to the stuff you hear on the radio every day. People always say they love that they know every single song we play. It’s what makes us an entertaining band. With Julie’s awesome alto voice and great energy on stage and Mike’s wailing lead guitar, we are fun to listen to, and that’s why people keep coming back.”
Jason is married to his beautiful wife, Adrienne, and they have a son and twin daughters. They have lived in Rockwall since 2012.
